The SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the World Bank and the Polish Center for International Aid Foundation have the pleasure to invite you to the conference “International Development Assistance in the Contemporary World,” which will take place on December 16 (Monday), 2024, at the SGH.

During the event, leading global practitioners and experts in international development will discuss the latest research on international development cooperation and trends in global aid policy. The debate, among others, will focus on twenty years of building the Polish system of development cooperation, its small but growing share in global development assistance and ways to improve its effectiveness.

Distinguished attendees include Professor Branko Milanovic from the City University of New York and Mr. Akihiko (Aki) Nishio, Vice-President of the World Bank for Development Finance.

“The main objective of the conference, apart from an in-depth diagnosis of the current situation, is to create a platform for discussion and exchange of experiences and best practices between representatives of the academia, development assistance practitioners and decision-makers in the field of development policy,” emphasizes Professor Ryszard Bartkowiak, Director of the Institute of Political Economy, Law and Economic Policy at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics.

One of the outcomes of the event will be a book with articles penned by the conference speakers, Polish and foreign experts as well as researchers representing various disciplines.

The conference is organized by the Department of Economic Policy and Monetary Theory and the Institute of Political Economy, Law and Economic Policy at the Collegium of Management and Finance of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics. The partners of the event are the World Bank and the Polish Center for International Aid Foundation. The honorary patronage over it has been taken by the Rector of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Professor Piotr Wachowiak.

The main language of the conference is English. The organizers provide oral translation.
