In the academic year 2024/2025, the foreign language competence test will be conducted according to the following rules:
- Students from all forms, levels, and semesters of studies can take the foreign language competence test organised outside of the mandatory language class hours, in the afternoon.
- Participation in the competence test is not obligatory.
- Participation in the competence test does not exempt students from the language course or any part of it.
- An unjustified absence from the written part will result in disqualification from the oral part, and thus a withdrawal from the test.
Registration for the competence test takes place from Friday, October 25, 2024, to Wednesday, October 30, 2024, via the registration form.
Late submissions will not be accepted.
The competence test will be held on the dates and times designated by the Foreign Language (CNJO). The planned date for the written part of the test is Thursday, November 14, 2024 (for English) or Friday, November 15, 2024 (for other languages). The oral part will take place between November 18, 2024, and December 20, 2024. Each student will have a designated test date, time, and room. Detailed information will be posted on the website by Friday, November 8, 2024. Information about the date, time, and location of the oral part will be posted on the website by Friday, November 22, 2024.
Students will have access to their test results after all results are published, by using the link posted on the CNJO website to join the course in the Essentials system. Links to individual courses (tests in individual languages) will be posted on the website on the day the details regarding the written part are published, i.e., by Friday, November 8, 2024.
Students are required to present an ID to the examination committee, and this document can be in digital form (mObywatel).
Each student’s written work will be evaluated by two language teachers, as will their oral response. The maximum level a student can achieve on the competence test is C2.
The competence test will consist of the following two parts:
Part I – Written, lasting 90 minutes:
- Listening comprehension (2-3 recorded current radio news items – approx. 3-5 minutes). Task: answering 5 questions in the foreign language.
- Summary of a Polish article approximately 500 words long or – for groups studying in English – a comparative summary of two English-language articles, each approximately 300 words long (English) / summary of an English-language article approximately 500 words long in the test language (other languages) (about 200-220 words of original text).
- Reading comprehension – filling in gaps in an economics-related text (10 gaps) from a list of 15 provided words.
Part II – Oral, lasting 10 minutes (plus 10 minutes for preparation):
Take a stance / express an opinion and present arguments to support your point of view in response to a given problem (socio-economic topic).
The content of the tests covers current socio-economic issues (general and economic language) and includes the assessment of language skills that are useful or essential when studying abroad.
