According to the Rules and Regulations of Studies 30 ECTS is sufficient to clear the semester. Please, make your choices of courses within reason as unsubscribing will only be possible during the phase 1 of the 2 stage of declarations.
The students who fail to subscribe to courses obligatory on a given semester will be enrolled by the Dean’s Office. Exceptions are: foreign languages – contact with the Centre for Foreign Languages is necessary in order to join and PE – enrollment in classes through the Centre for Physical Education and Sport.
Declarations’ schedule for spring semester 2024/2025
- Students submitting the declaration for spring semester 2024/2025
Stage 1 for students declaring course - preferences
2 November 2024 (Saturday) 10.00 a.m. – 6 November 2024 (Wednesday) 10.00 a.m.
The aim of this stage of declarations is to assess the number of students wishing to enroll on any given course. The data collected determine whether the course will be launched or not, as they are launched if and only if the minimal number of participants as stipulated in the Rector’s ruling is reached.
8 January 2025 (Wednesday)
Publication of the preliminary schedule on the Undergraduate Studies’ website.
Stage 2 for students declaring course
Phase 1 – deletion of colliding courses and unsubscribing from non-mandatory courses
11 January 2025 (Saturday) 10.00 a.m. – 14 January 2025 (Tuesday) 10.00 a.m.
In the first phase it is possible to delete the colliding courses and unsubscribe from non-mandatory courses.
CAUTION – it is your one and only chance to unsubscribe form non-mandatory courses
Courses that remain in your basket after phase 1 are obligatory to attend and pass next semester. Subscriptions during next stages are binding: there are no further chances to unsubscribe. Students who got enrolled on a course after the ‘preferences’ stage have a guaranteed place in the group – also during next stages.
At the same time the „Exchange” of subjects will take place.
During this phase it is not possible to sign up for any classes. Addition to classes will take place in the next phases.
15 January 2025 (Wednesday) – 16 January 2025 (Thursday)
Technical break – automatic deletion of colliding courses (Out of ‘collision’ courses - the mandatory ones will not be erased, however if both ‘collision’ courses are mandatory - both will be erased).
Stage 2 of declarations – Phase 2 – joining launched courses by students who participated in ‘preferences’ (stage 1)
17 January 1015 (Friday) 10.00 a.m. – 21 January 2025 (Tuesday) 10.00 a.m.
During this stage you can request to join launched classes, though the request alone does not guarantee a place in a group. In case of very popular courses, chosen by more students than there is places, after the completion of this stage, a ranking list will be drawn and places in the group awarded to students highest on the list. Therefore, it is advisable to plan your enrollment strategy well: choosing a less popular group you do not run the risk of having your declaration deleted after the ranking list is drawn.
You can either request to join groups or withdraw your requests until the end of this phase. When it is completed, nothing in your declaration can be changed.
23 January 2025 (Thursday) 10.00 a.m. – 25 January 2025 (Friday) 10.00 a.m.
Technical break, ranking and group assignment.
Stage 2 of declarations – Phase 3 – joining launched classes where places are available
25 January 2025 (Saturday) 10.00 a.m. – 29 January 2025 (Wednesday) 10.00 a.m.
This phase is to be used by all students, including – for the first time – those who failed to participate in ‘preferences’ stage (stage 1). During phase 3 you can join launched classes where places are available. The order of placing your requests is decisive.
You can either request to join groups or withdraw your requests until the end of this phase. When it is completed, nothing in your declaration can be changed.
31 January 2025 (Friday)

- Instruction of the Dean of Bachelor studies from 14th of September 2021 on semester and bachelor seminar declarations
In reference to §12 and §19 of Rules and Regulations effective from 1st of October 2021 I introduce the following rules concerning semester and bachelor seminar declarations:
- Each student, according to §3.4 of Rules and Regulations, is obliged to submit the declaration for upcoming semester.
- Process of semester declaration consists of several stages, which are announced in advance in a schedule posted on the SGH website. Students are required to read carefully the indicated schedule, which sets out in detail the conditions of each stage of declaration, in particular specifying, among other things, the deadlines for subsequent stages and the procedure to be followed in the event of clash of selected courses.
- As a first step, students are required to select courses indicated in their study plan as compulsory for a given semester of study and in accordance with the sequence of courses set by the Dean. In the case of failure to select obligatory courses indicated in the plan of study or selection of courses in violation of the sequence in which they are to be taken, the Dean has the right to correct the declaration during or after the completion of the process of declaration for such courses in accordance with §12.2 of the Rules and Regulations.
- It is recommended that you choose your classes as early as possible in your declaration. In particular, the “with the consent of the lecturer” stage should be seen as a supplement to the declaration system. The lack of consent of a lecturer to be added to classes at this stage (expressed by the lecturer selecting in the system the decision of refusal or by the lack of response within the period specified in the schedule) is not the basis for any claims. A lecturer’s possible admission of a student to a class without giving the student formal consent to be added to the class via the WD system by the dates specified in the student declaration schedule is not tantamount to enrolling the student in the class and will not enable the student to successfully complete a course for which he or she is not formally enrolled in a given semester
- With the exception of classes in the individual teaching mode, both enrolment in classes and removal of classes from the declaration are possible only on the dates specified in the schedule listed in item 2 of this instruction.
- Classes taught in the individual teaching mode for which it was not possible to enrol through the registration system may be enrolled by submitting an application to the Dean of Bachelor studies, attaching the lecturer’s consent (the lecturer’s consent does not constitute enrolment in the class). The application must be submitted by the deadline specified in the Dean’s instructions for completing courses in the individual teaching mode. When considering an application, the Dean shall be guided by the Rules and Regulations, the provisions of internal University regulations concerning limits on the number of groups for particular types of classes, and the legitimacy of starting classes from the perspective of both the student and the University.
- Taking into account in particular points 3-5 of the present instruction, it is recommended that each student carefully review the applicable plan of studies, in particular, students choosing courses for the last semester of study and those resuming their studies. Failure to select in subsequent semester declarations all courses required for graduation makes it impossible for a student to be admitted to the thesis defence before completing all missing courses or trainings.
- It is recommended that classes be completed in the sequence indicated by the Program Council of the chosen field of study. The sequences are designed in such a way as to ensure that the learning objectives achieved in the subjects placed earlier will enable the student to acquire the knowledge necessary to study the subjects indicated at further stages of study.
- According to §19. 2 of the Rules and Regulations, the selection of the bachelor seminar is mandatory by the end of the fifth semester of study and should be done through the electronic system. Students may pursue the bachelor seminar in their fifth or sixth semester of study. The enrolment for a seminar conducted by the specific lecturer requires his/her consent in the electronic system, therefore it is recommended to contact the lecturer of your choice before applying for enrolment in the system.
- Failure to select a seminar by the beginning of the sixth semester may result, in accordance with §12. 2 of the Rules and Regulations, in being added to one of the bachelor seminars by the Dean of Bachelor Studies. In such a situation, the seminar instructor is chosen by the Dean.
- According to § 19 of the Rules and Regulations, a bachelor seminar lasts one semester - so students who take the opportunity to take the seminar in their fifth semester of study are required to complete it in that semester.
- It is not possible to unsubscribe from a seminar for which a student has enrolled (or has been enrolled under section 10 of this manual). A student may change the seminar lecturer at the student’s request addressed to the Dean of the Bachelor Studies, which requires the acceptance of old and new supervisor to attached. A change of supervisor cannot justify a request for an extension of time to submit an undergraduate thesis.
The instruction shall come into force on 1st of October 2021 and shall remain in force until further notice.
- Instruction of the Dean of Bachelor Studies from 7th of September 2021 on the classes in the individual teaching mode
In reference to §12.4 of Rules and Regulations effective from 1st of October 2021, the student may apply for classes in the individual teaching mode for subjects that were not launched in specific semester.
Realization of classes in the individual teaching mode can be applied by submitting the request (written or in electronic system) to the Dean of Bachelor Studies.
Student is obliged to submit an application for realization of a subject that was not launched in the individual teaching mode without delay, no later than 14 days from the day on which, due to the publication of the timetable of classes or other objective and documented circumstances, it turns out that the realization of a given subject will not be possible in a regular mode.
To the application the acceptance of the teacher for conducting the classes in the individual teaching mode in written form or by e-mail from the address in SGH domain should be attached.
When considering an application for individual teaching mode, the Dean is guided by an assessment of the student’s individual situation and economic rationality, taking into account in particular whether the student will be able to complete the course work in the further course of his or her studies.
In the case of obtaining the Dean’s permission for realization of classes in the individual teaching mode, it is the student’s responsibility to ask the lecturer to determine the mode of conducting the classes and the dates, methods, and criteria for evaluation.
The instruction shall come into force on 1st of October 2021 and shall remain in force until further notice.
- Rules for assignment to courses and groups
Assignment to courses takes into account the ranking position resulting from the table with bonuses and cumulative average of grades from studies or recruitment points, in a situation where it is possible to determine them.
Rankings are created independently for each class. Assignments to classes are made in order starting from basic courses, through major and major electives, and ending with electives. In the event of a collision of classes chosen by the student during Preferences, another class group with the available places (identified on the basis of the aggregate preferences of all students) is selected.Bonuses:
- the course in English, student of studies conducted in English - 10.0
- a student of double diploma programme - 20.0
- an exchange student - 18.0
- mandatory course at the assumed stage of the student - 10.0
- mandatory course on a cycle later than the assumed student stage - 5.0
- mandatory course on a cycle earlier than the assumed student stage - 10.0
- the assumed semester of the student is the first semester - 1.0
- the assumed semester of the student is the second semester - 2.0
- the assumed semester of the student is the third semester - 4.0
- the assumed semester of the student is the fourth semester - 6.0
- the assumed semester of the student is the fifth semester - 8,0
- the assumed semester of the student is the sixth semester - 10,0
- random differentiating number of students with the same characteristics on the ranking list (per course) - (0,0;1,0>
- Rules of one-time withdrawal from the course
According to the Rules and Regulations at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, once during the entire study period, within a month from the beginning of classes at the latest, the student shall be allowed to indicate a course the failing of which shall bear no impact on passing a semester or a year of his/her study, which means deleting the subject from the declaration for current semester. This shall not apply to the courses determined as mandatory in the curriculum.
Rules for withdrawal from classes:- You can only withdraw from courses that are not mandatory, which means that you cannot withdraw from basic courses, major courses, and major electives, languages and Physical Education classes. In addition, you cannot withdraw from repeated courses. Withdrawing from the repeated course will result in the inability to pass the semester.
- Each of the courses available in the form is described in a way that suggests whether it is possible to unsubscribe from it or not. However, due to the different status of the same courses for individual students (related to different fields of study, etc.), the above-mentioned information should be treated only as an indication requiring verification (i.e. checking with an individual program and study plan).
- In the form, the student has the opportunity to choose only one course.
- The choice of the course made by the student is recorded in the database. However, during the period when the form is available, it is possible to change the decision and choose another course from the list or completely withdraw the request.
- In the case of courses starting in the middle of the semester, it will not be possible to withdraw electronically (i.e. you will have to submit an application with a request to unsubscribe; the application should refer to paragraph 23 point 12 of Rules and Regulations).
- After the deadline to submit the request, the Dean after verification of the applications makes the decision. Indicating the subject and submitting the request for unsubscription in the system is not tantamount to accepting the application.
- If the decision to withdraw from a given course is positive, then the annotation “Course deleted” will appear in the “Decision” column (otherwise the annotation “Application rejected” will appear).
