17th Annual Conference on Innovation and Competitiveness „International Competitiveness, Sustainability and Resilience”
Warsaw, October 27, 2022 (Thursday)The COVID-19 pandemic as well as the war in Ukraine have dramatically changed the playing field for competition in the world economy. Resilience to crises has become one of the key drivers of a strong competitive position, and the significance of the sustainable dimension of competitiveness has also grown. The new trends in the world economy determine the aim of the conference, which is to discuss the competitive position of European countries, and Poland in particular, taking into account the foremost components of sustainable competitiveness.
The basis for discussion during the World Economy Research Institute’s 17th Annual Conference are research findings presented in the 2022 Edition of the report Poland Competitiveness Report 2022. Towards a Sustainable Economy in a Pandemic Era.pdfPoland Competitiveness Report 2022. Towards a Sustainable Economy in a Pandemic Era.pdf. It is the thirty seventh edition of this monograph. The focus of this year’s edition is sustainability and resilience to crises.
The Conference sessions will be opened with the keynote lecture given by Professor Eleanor Doyle, from the Cork University Business School, University College Cork, Ireland, with whom the Institute‘s team collaborates under the Microeconomics of Competitiveness affiliate network coordinated by the Harvard Business School.
KEYNOTE LECTURE
Eleanor Doyle is Professor of Economics at Cork University Business School, at University College Cork, Ireland. She is an invited member of the international Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MoC) network of the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness, Harvard Business School. Her research interests include cluster policy & practice and implications for economic competitiveness and development.

October 27, 2022 (Thursday), SGH Warsaw School of EconomicsThe global and European economy have been operating under increasingly unstable conditions for a considerable period of time. More recently, the growing threat of inflation in times of high debt as well as the war in Ukraine have exacerbated the instabilities. Against this background, the conference will discuss various aspects and challenges of economic policy from Polish and German perspectives. For this we invite representatives from economics, political sciences, and related disciplines as well as practitioners from business and politics to participate in this debate with written and/or oral contributions.
