The Student Organizataion of Economics has been operating at the Department of Economics I since 2002.
The patron of the SKN is prof. Marek Góra, and the supervisor - dr hab. Ewa Gałecka-Burdziak.
During weekly meetings, we discuss the directions of socio-economic policy based on interesting scientific papers.
In recent years, topics studied included: labor market institutions, technological change in the labor market, determinants of economic growth, the impact of politics and politicians on the economy, and the role of the capital market in supporting innovation.
In addition to regular meetings, SKN (co-)organizes occasional events. In recent years, these included, among others: a lecture by prof. Deirdre McCloskey (University of Chicago) on the impact of history and philosophy on economic sciences, or a debate on the challenges facing the social security sector as part of the project Youth about the Pension System. We organize annual meetings to bring closer the achievements of Nobel Prize winners in economics and cyclical meetings with young scientists who, by presenting their research, show different faces of economics.
