The staff includes academics with diverse research specialisations: from the history of philosophy, ethics and the political philosophy to the philosophy of language, logic and the methodology of science. Current interests focus on topics at the intersection of philosophy and political science, including: political theory, feminism, argumentation, disinformation and propaganda.
History
The Department of Philosophy was incorporated into the Collegium of Socio-Economics (then Faculty) in 1968. Previously, it had been part of the Faculty of Internal Trade. The department was successively headed by:

In 2013 the Department of Philosophy was transformed into the Philosophy Unit.and became part of the newly established Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Economic Sociology. In 2024 the unit was transformed again into the Department of Philosophy.
