The SGH Business Sails Competition is a prestigious event organized by the Warsaw School of Economics, aiming to recognize and promote dynamically growing and economically successful companies founded and run by the school’s students, doctoral candidates, and alumni. This initiative focuses on identifying and disseminating best business practices implemented by the nominated enterprises.

The SGH Business Sails Competition highlights the importance of innovation, entrepreneurship, and intelligent management within the SGH community, serving as a platform to showcase achievements and best practices in various business areas such as technology, marketing, organization, product, and corporate social responsibility. This initiative not only promotes economic success but also inspires further development and innovation in business.

The winners of the competition are selected based on a detailed analysis and evaluation conducted by a specially appointed jury, consisting of distinguished representatives from academia, business, and the university authorities. The selection of winners is based on a thorough examination of the submitted companies, their business models, innovation, and impact on economic and social development.

The SGH Business Sails Competition is not only a recognition for the most innovative and efficient enterprises but also an opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices among entrepreneurs associated with SGH. It plays a significant role in building a strong and active business community around the Warsaw School of Economics, while also encouraging further entrepreneurial development among its students and alumni.

5th Edition Summary (2022)

During the inauguration of the academic year at the Warsaw School of Economics, the fifth edition of the SGH Business Sails Competition took place, where three companies were awarded for their outstanding achievements and business practices. The meeting with the laureates, which took place on December 19, provided an opportunity to get a closer look at the specifics of their activities.

  • Foodtech.ac, the grand prix winner in the CSR category, is an accelerator for startups in the food-tech sector, supporting the development of modern food and related technologies. Their acceleration programs enable startups to grow their business, create innovative products, and expand into new markets.
  • Startup Development House also received the grand prix, but in the organization category. As a software house, this company specializes in digitalization and supporting companies in creating digital products, offering services from design to startup acceleration and corporate innovation.
  • Ars Estetica sp. z o.o. was distinguished in the product/service category for its innovative approach in the field of dentistry, including comprehensive dental services utilizing music therapy and minimally invasive treatment methods, focusing on the health and aesthetics of patients’ smiles.

4th Edition Summary (2021)

During the inauguration of the 2021-22 academic year at the Warsaw School of Economics, another edition of the SGH Business Sails Competition took place, recognizing three dynamically growing enterprises associated with the university. This competition focuses on promoting companies that achieve not only economic success but also implement best business practices in various areas such as product, organization, technology, marketing, and corporate social responsibility.

The laureates of this year’s edition are:

  • TakeTask, receiving the Grand Prix Award in the product/service category, is a technology company offering software for large-scale task management. Their tools allow for the efficient execution and verification of tasks in multiple locations, contributing to the completion of millions of tasks for significant clients like Rossmann, Biedronka, and Shell.
  • Epeer.pl, distinguished in the technology category, is an innovative financial platform that uses artificial intelligence to connect investors with borrowers. Their advanced scoring algorithm enables secure investments and loans, helping to solve the problem of financial liquidity. The platform is rapidly expanding its presence in international markets.
  • InStreamly, awarded in the organization category, is a platform that connects micro-influencers from the e-sports industry with brands, enabling them to use advertisements in live streams. This offers new monetization opportunities for small creators, while advertisers benefit from higher conversion rates.

The SGH Business Sails Competition not only promotes the achievements of enterprises but also serves as a platform for young researchers from SGH to gain experience through the analysis of real business cases. The research reports prepared by them, under the guidance of Prof. Hanna Godlewska-Majkowska, formed the basis for selecting this year’s laureates by the competition jury, consisting of academic representatives and members of the SGH Partners Club.

A special meeting of the SGH Entrepreneurs Club was announced to be held on November 3, providing an opportunity to present the histories of the laureates and discuss best business practices. This meeting will also be a time to thank everyone involved in the project, including both researchers and company representatives.

3rd Edition Summary (2020)

In the third edition of the SGH Business Sails Competition, held during the 2020 academic year inauguration at the Warsaw School of Economics, enterprises were recognized for their dynamic growth and implementation of best business practices. This competition focuses on promoting intelligent organizations that contribute to economic development, both in modern technologies and traditional industries.

Five laureates were selected based on research reports prepared by teams of SGH students and doctoral candidates under the direction of Dr. Tomasz Pilewicz. The laureates represent a diversity of industries and innovation in their business approaches:

  • TakeTask SA received the grand prix award as a Polish technology company creating software for large-scale task management. The company has completed millions of tasks for significant clients and collaborated with the Ministry of Digital Affairs on the Home Quarantine app.
  • M8 Production House Sp. z o.o. is a production house creating high-quality audiovisual works, including films, animations, and augmented reality productions, working with large corporations and public institutions.
  • NapoleonCat Sp. z o.o. specializes in developing social media management products, offering comprehensive tools for customer service in social media, analytics, and post scheduling.
  • Enky Consulting provides advisory services in the area of innovation and new technologies, supporting corporations, the public sector, and SMEs in implementing improvements and new solutions.
  • RDLS sp. z o.o. focuses on environmental biotechnologies, creating passive wastewater treatment systems that are energy-efficient, simple to operate, and low in operational costs.

The winners of the SGH Business Sails Competition are proof that the SGH community is capable of creating enterprises that not only achieve economic success but also foster good business practices and innovations, serving as an inspiration to others. The recognition of these companies is a source of pride for the entire academic community of SGH.
