Marcos Alvarez has been working as a tax auditor for the Spanish State Tax Agency for 20 years. His main duties has been preventing, detecting and assessing shortfalls and infringements of the tax law specially focused on VAT matters, aggressive tax planning in direct taxation and tax crimes.
He is currently working in the Tax Auditing Department as a senior advisor for VAT matters, antiabuse provisions and tax control procedures, as well as providing advise to tax cases discussed upon the administrative and judicial and EU Courts. Reporting to the General Director of the AEAT, he has been appointed as co-head coordinator in the Spanish Tax Administration to prepare Spanish Presidency of the EU in 2023.
