The Department, led by Wojciech Morawski, is a leading Polish research institute in economic history.
With a long tradition of excellent researchers, from rector Andrzej Grodek to Irena Kostrowicka and Zbigniew Landau, the Department focuses on 20th and 21st century Polish and world economic history.
The Department’s current projects focus on four major topics:
- interwar Polish history (foreign capital, energy sectors, social insurance, database of joint-stock companies)
- communist-era history (structural reforms, police apparatus
- post-1989 Polish history (series of interviews with major economic policymakers)
- history of SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
