Food Safety Market Unit
The Food Safety Market Unit was established pursuant to Order No. 29 of the Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics of April 5, 2022, which came into force on April 25 of the same year. It operates within the structure of the Institute of Markets and Competition of the College of Business Administration.     
The basic research areas of the Unit are:

  • Poland’s food security,
  • food market and new trends in food consumption,
  • food waste and losses,
  • food safety and quality,
  • globalization of agribusiness,
  • agricultural economics issues.

 

The Unit cooperates with many research and teaching centers in Poland and abroad, including the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (Department of Microeconomics and Applied Economics), the Poznań University of Economics (Department of Macroeconomics and Food Economy), the Poznań University of Life Sciences (Department of Economics). and Economic Policy in Agribusiness), Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics - National Research Institute, Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Polesie National University in Zhytomyr (Ukraine), National University of Taras Shevchenko in Kiev (Ukraine).
The plant also has extensive contacts with business practice, state administration and industry organizations, cooperating with, among others, with organizations and institutions such as: Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Polish Federation of Food Producers, Employers’ Association, Union of Producers and Employers of the Meat Industry, Agricultural Advisory Center in Brwinów.
The Department organizes inter-university research internships for young employees seeking post-doctoral degrees.
The basic teaching tasks of the Department include conducting classes at bachelor’s and master’s studies, postgraduate studies (Modern Agribusiness Management), courses and training in the field related to the research issues of the Department, as well as participating in the education of doctoral students.
