Architectural accessibility
Accessible architecture of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, main building (G), al. Niepodległości 162, 02-554 Warsaw, Poland G Building – mostly meets the requirements for barrier-free design. Wheelchair users can access all the levels, other than the entresol and two auditoriums (auditoriums III and IV).
The main entrance to the building, accessible from al. Niepodległości, has been adjusted to the needs of wheelchair users.
Parking lot
- A municipal parking lot is located in front of the building, facing al. Niepodległości. There are two designated parking spots for persons with disabilities.
- The parking spots are painted blue and marked properly.
- They are at a distance of approximately 15 metres from the building.
Assistance dog
- You can come with your assistance dog or guide dog. Please remember to carry the service dog certificate and the vaccination certificate.
Building entrance
- The main entrance to the building is off al. Niepodległości.
- To get to the entrance, you need to go up the stairs. The first and last steps are painted in high-contrast colours.
- The glazed doors open automatically.
- You can also enter the building from the indoor parking lot (automatic door with hand sensor) and in the passageway between buildings G and A.
Space behind the entrance
When you enter Building G, you will find a large open space – the Parachute Hall. The reception is to the left of the entrance. After walking a few metres, you will find a long corridor leading to the Undergraduate Studies Office. To the right of the entrance, there is a corridor leading to the Graduate Studies Office. Ahead, you can see the open space of the Parachute Hall, which features a gentle ramp (two steps high) due to the difference in levels.
Horizontal passageways
You can use the following platform stairlifts and ramps to overcome level changes within the building:
- the ramp in the Parachute Hall;
- the ramp on the ground floor, allowing access to the elevator and to the bathrooms, on the side of the ladies’ toilet;
- the ramp on the ground floor, allowing access to the bathroom, on the side of the gents’ toilet;
- two platforms stairlifts in the passageway connecting buildings G and A.
Vertical passageways
- There are stairs leading to higher levels.
- The stairs have handrails.
- The first and last steps are painted in high-contrast colours.
- There is also an elevator.
Elevator
- The building has three elevators. One of them (the glass elevator) is adapted for persons with disabilities.
- To get to the glass elevator, turn left when you enter the building, and then turn right in front of the Bookstore. Then, go straight ahead until you reach the stairs. The elevator is to the left. Alternatively, you can walk through the Parachute Hall and head left at the end.
- The elevator has convex buttons and Braille signage.
- The elevator does not have voice announcements, but there are TOTUPOINT navigation and information system tags in its vicinity.
Bathroom
- There is a bathroom that is accessible for persons with disabilities.
- It is located on the first floor, near room 156.
- Handrails are on both sides of the toilet.
Additional information
- The reception offers a mobile tactile map of the building.
- The rooms are marked with high-contrast signs. Convex markings are not available.
- A significant number of rooms have Braille signage: 7a, 10, 11, 13, 15, 57A, 58, 61b, 64, 105, 106, 111, 145 (Rector’s Office), 150, 151, 156, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 215, 220, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 228, 230, 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, as well as the rooms comprising the Office of the Chancellor: 416, 417, 418, 419, 420, and the Bursar’s Office: 451, 452, 453, 454, 455, 456, 457, 458.
- The building has 30 TOTUPOINT navigation and information system tags.
- There are rest areas in the hallways, e.g., sofas or tables with chairs.
- There are two evacuation chairs in the building.
- Only some doors and walls are marked with high-contrast tape.
