Notice on the Scope of Activities of SGH (machine-readable format)
The SGH Warsaw School of Economics is a cutting-edge business school that moulds the leaders of the economy and society. Additionally, it serves as a vital research centre and a dynamic hub for innovative ideas and initiatives, driven by the collaboration of its academic community, alumni, and representatives from the business world, social organisations, and public administration.
Educational Offer
Fundamentally, SGH provides a range of degree programmes, offering both first-cycle and second-cycle degrees in full-time and part-time formats, including evening and weekend sessions.
In addition to its Polish-language programmes, SGH offers a variety of first-cycle and second-cycle degree programmes in English. The School actively participates in numerous international teaching projects and provides nearly 20 dual degree programmes.
At SGH, around 11,000 students are enrolled in first-cycle and second-cycle degree programmes. The School boasts nearly 60 organisations and student scientific associations, including the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of the Warsaw School of Economics, the Warsaw School of Economics Choir, and Teatr Scena Główna Handlowa, a performance art theatre.
The SGH Doctoral School offers a chance to earn the degree of Doctor of Social Sciences, specifically in finance and economics, management and quality sciences, as well as political and administration sciences. Students of the SGH Doctoral School can pursue their degrees within the general academic profile or the implementation doctorate profile.
Additionally, SGH offers upwards of 100 diverse postgraduate and MBA programmes for graduates of higher education institutions.
The SGH Warsaw School of Economics also runs the Children’s University of Economics and the Academy of Young Economist. The School conducts training sessions and provides a range of courses, such as language classes and preparatory programmes, along with the University of the Third Age.
Research Activities
In addition to teaching, research plays a key role in the School’s activities. The research profile primarily emphasises social sciences, covering areas such as finance and economics, political and administration sciences, management and quality sciences, as well as legal sciences. Some of the studies undertaken are interdisciplinary. SGH is also engaged in conducting research and providing expert opinions commissioned by businesses, public institutions, and local government units.
Research activities are pursued within the institutes, chairs, and departments that form five collegia: of Economic Analysis, Socio-Economics, World Economy, Business Administration, and Management and Finance.
The School’s Cooperation with Its Environment
SGH cooperates with hundreds of universities and international institutions, as well as with its social and economic environment. This collaboration provides students, doctoral students, and staff with a wide range of opportunities, including participation in exchange programmes, internships, and scientific research.
SGH is dedicated to supporting all individuals with special needs, including persons who are deaf and hard of hearing, through its Office for People with Disabilities and an Accessibility Coordinator.
