Comparison of Institutional Pathologies of Innovation Networks in Poland and in Hungary

The primary purpose of the study is to identify the institutional pathologies occurring in innovation networks in Poland and in Hungary, to compare them with each other and to prepare a catalogue of actions to be taken that are necessary to eliminate these pathologies. Thesis: “The quality of regulatory environment determines the level of institutional pathologies occurring in innovation networks.”

Hypothesis: “The higher the quality of regulatory environment both on the national and regional level, the lower the number of institutional pathologies in innovation networks.” Research questions: which factors affect the quality of the regulatory environment on the national level and which on the regional level? Which types of institutional pathologies occur in innovation networks in Poland and which in Hungary? Which activities (and on which level) can eliminate institutional pathologies occurring in innovation networks? The quality study will be carried out in the current of grounded theory methodology according to Konecki, 2018; Corbin and Strauss, 1990 or Glaser and Strauss, 1967.

As part of the aforementioned quality study, n=25 innovation networks will be examined (Poland n=17, Hungary n=8 from various NUTS2 regions) selected in a layer/ random mode with the application of the following research methods for every innovation network: case study and telephone in-depth interview with the person managing every unit belonging to the innovation network.
